An Important Announcement
A Better America has always been the battle cry of my campaign—that our nation would renew our spirit of civility, stand by our convictions, and dedicate ourselves to the common good. When I announced my campaign in October, I looked at the candidates running in my district and I couldn’t find a conservative voice committed to principle, who defended parents’ rights, traditional values, and New Jersey’s independence from Washington. I ran this campaign from day one committed to be that conservative, principled option for New Jerseyans that we were rarely seeing on the ballot.
Americans are growing tired of divisive rhetoric and radical politics. We’re concerned that the fabric that is holding us together is beginning to tear, that a day will come where we don’t see each other as both Americans and neighbors, but as untrustworthy political opponents with no shared culture. I believe that the far Left has done all they can to sow division in order to build a radically committed Leftist base. They are, among others, responsible for fanning the flames of division and sparking the anti-American radicalism which is destabilizing our national identity.
I announced my campaign in October because I didn’t believe incumbent Democrat Rep. Andy Kim of New Jersey’s 3rd district was the right representative for us. I saw that Rep. Kim was not committed to upholding our districts’ values of freedom, liberty, and limited government.
In December, however, New Jersey’s Congressional Redistricting Commission released new maps which moved my community from New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District into District 4 with incumbent Rep. Chris Smith. To run against Rep. Smith would not be in line with my vision for A Better America. That is why I am suspending my campaign for U.S. Congress and endorsing Rep. Smith.
Congressman Chris Smith embodies the core values of A Better America – civility, conviction, and the common good. I cannot in good conscience campaign for a better America knowing I would be challenging a congressman who practices those ideals in the halls of Congress each day. My congressional run was never about Shawn Hyland, it was always about A Better America. Smith is like minded and shares the same heartbeat on social issues. Rep. Smith is a long-standing and tireless advocate for life, religious rights, international human rights, and the spirit of civility. Rep. Smith embodies A Better America. He is the right candidate for District 4 and represents what America needs more of in Congress.
In the meantime, I am still fighting for A Better America. I ran to be a relentless voice for a better America - one with stronger families, safer neighborhoods, better schools, and more economic growth. I am taking to the campaign trail for Congressman Smith and rallying people around our vision for A Better America. I want to thank all of my supporters who believed in me and what we would do together in 2022 and beyond. I hope my supporters will come out and give Congressman Smith the same support they have already shown me.
